The word Yoga means to yoke – to create a union between body and breath. The word Nidra has another meaning besides “sleep”: ni means “void,” and dru means “to draw forth or reveal.”
Yoga Nidra is a journey to the void through all of the states of consciousness – and to the space of no thought and non doing. It is a lucid relaxation practice.
